LMEA Session 2: Benefits of ePortfolio in Music

Part 1

Benefits of electronic portfolios in music (Presenting to the audience)

Next I will show this video to the audience

Part 2

My guest presenters today include the first elementary music teacher and the high school choir director. I will be the first elementary teacher to present to set the tone.

Presenter 1 (Me): For my presentation I will teach the game 'Pass the Beat Around the Room.' The entire audience will stand in a circle and I will teach the game the same way I teach my students in the classroom. The audience will play the role of students. I could not gather enough adults in time to create a mock video, so I will provide a link to a video of the game being played (here). My session will take significantly longer than the video because I am teaching an audience that has no experience with the procedures of the game. After I teach the game, I will lead a full game and present the winner with a Starbucks gift card.

Presenter 2: The high school choir director will first share the progress of her ePortfolio, and then lead an interactive lesson as described in the outline. The audience will play the role as the students.

Part 3

Walk and Talk: Teachers will walk around and mingle with each other. They are encouraged to discuss teaching strategies from presenters, experiences, discuss ideas for their ePortfolio etc.

Lastly, I will lead a group discussion addressing unaddressed google doc questions.
